Creating Some Wood burning Art

Creating Some Wood burning Art

Over the last few months I've made more woodburning (pyrography) art pieces. These are some that I have right now ready to be sold.

The small ones are approximately 4" x 5". The middle size, the raccoon, is about 7"x7", and the larger two are 7"x 9.5".

I have used "mixed media" so to speak on these pieces. By that I mean, I burn, then carve textured backgrounds, then add clear and some acrylic painted accents in some cases. Mostly used white for highlights or in the case of the "Good Fortune" Turtle shell, I used some mica gold acrylic paint and some grey. So that one has metallic shimmering patterns on the shell part.

One has a string hanger while that rest are slotted in the back for hanging

Since I discovered poplar wood is decent for wood burning, I have been grabbing boards from the hardware stores and cutting them down to the sizes that I want. These are a reasonably priced and accessible alternative to the usual basswood, which has to be ordered online mostly.

So far I'm enjoying doing pyrography art, but it is a bit straining on the ol' hands and neck, especially the carving and sanding part of the process.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the outcome here. If your interested in purchasing any of my art, just click the home link on this page and you'll see what I have posted for sale on my store. If you have questions, feel free to ask.

If you are visiting this post to review some of what I do and offering, Thank you for checking out my artwork. And if you want to see other types of artwork that I create as well as different subjects, then those will be in my store too.

All are handmade with hand-guided tools, by me in the USA.
